Gun Laws Are Changing Around the World

U.S. gun control seems to be the topic of the day, but the arguments always drag other countries into the mix. So, while the left continues to lie about mass shootings in Australia (they’ve had plenty since they confiscated guns), you can take a minute to learn about places where gun control is going the other direction.

Israel

As much as the UN wants to convince you that Israel is the ultimate bastion of human rights violation, it actually stands as the sole location of freedom, security and peace in the Middle East. A large part of their success is due to the fact that every citizen must serve in the military. That raises a sense of civic responsibility in every citizen, and it provides weapons training to the vast majority of the population. As such, Israel has been one of the most heavily armed citizenries in history.

Yet, at the end of the 90s, the government instituted a progressive chain of increasing gun control. They saw civilian gun ownership steadily decline, and that correlated perfectly with a rise in terrorist-led killings. Now, the government wants to reverse a number of those laws in an attempt to increase overall security.

Changes to gun laws are going to make an additional 600,000 Israelites eligible for civilian gun ownership. That’s a big jump for a nation of 8.5 million. While not all of the newly qualified gun owners will take advantage, experts estimate that at least 35,000 citizens will become new civilian gun owners in the wake of the law. The motivation and results of the legislation are noticeably opposite to what the liberals are trying here.

Speaking of liberals, many of them are likely to point out that Israelites are only allowed to own a gun if they have received military training. That’s a red herring since virtually every citizen meets that requirement. It would be more accurate to say that the only Israeli citizens who can’t own a gun were disqualified from mandatory service. That’s akin to the United States where service men and women who are dishonorably discharged are not allowed to own guns.

Iraq

Still in the Middle East, Iraq is making sweeping changes to their gun laws. Also in the name of combating terrorism and unpredictable violence, Iraq wants to bolster their citizens’ capacities for self-defense.

Since the forced regime change over a decade ago, Iraqi citizens have only been allowed to own firearms for the sake of sport and hunting. Those guns were heavily regulated and difficult to obtain. Even with such restrictions, a large number of Iraqis were armed anyways.

The new law aims to address the firearm black market. There is now an avenue for legal gun ownership outside of sport, and the government is hoping that it will help steer citizens away from black markets. The hope is that official gun ownership will lead to safer weapons and more comfort with openly carrying firearms.

Interestingly, this change has spawned an unexpected side-effect. Iraqi women are leading the way for civilian gun ownership, and that change has already led to a significant drop in violence against women in the region. Apparently, gun ownership leads to true feminist progress.

Switzerland

The story in Switzerland is quite different. Despite the country’s vow to remain neutral, it has armed its citizens, and Switzerland has the second most civilian-owned guns per capita in the world (after the U.S. of course). Unfortunately for the Swiss, they’re caught in a weird legal battle with the greater powers of the European Union.

This situation is a little murky. Switzerland is not a member of the EU, but they obviously engage in a lot of trade with the member countries. EU leadership is trying to leverage that trade to force the Swiss to comply with minimum gun control measures. For now, it looks like the Swiss government is buckling. They have introduced (but not passed) legislation that would meet EU requirements.

In response, the Swiss population has mobilized. They are already gathering signatures to force the issue into a referendum. The Swiss have consistently defeated gun-control referendums over the last several decades, and this one is expected to go the same way.

There you have it. Three different countries in three wildly different situations are all taking the same stance: gun rights save lives. So, when the liberals get loud and try to convince you that the entire world agrees with them, you can remember that they are wrong. There are countless examples that demonstrate the importance of the 2nd Amendment, and people across the globe are recognizing that.

I didn’t know Switzerland and Israel had the same threat to their sovereignty (progressivistic demands), but it’s good to know Iraq has seen the glimmer of the light of personal responsibility.

In Israel, not only those that would have been undesirables in the military for criminal reasons won’t be allowed guns, but anyone who couldn’t serve because they were too tall or short, they had a parent who needed care, those that may have had a crippling disability, etc.
There are still many that could very well need firearms that will not be able to own a means of protection – the government grants the “right” only to those that have been through their brainwashing programs.

Christ! EU measures on gun control? They don’t remember the 2 World Wars or twice, Britain had to beg the U.S. for weapons to arm their Home Guar? And that virtually every American who donated a gin lost it forever because the Brits DUMPED THEM IN THE OCEAN after the war. I thought the Swiss were smarter than that. Re the above comment, the 2 World Wars involved the Germans, I fear that the next time the Brits beg for weapons it will be to fight RADICAL Islam. The Germans and French will probably want some, too. At least twice, parts of Europe were glad we have the 2nd.

WW I, the USA entered the war late. WW II, Germany took over Austria 1938. Germany invaded Poland in 1939. France and Great Britain in alliance with Poland declared war on Germany. The French consuming too much estrogen did not last long leaving the Brits on their own. The Brits, an island nation and not highly industrialized fought on. Yes, Britain had industry, but not in comparison to Germany. Neville Chamberlain, British PM spoke of appeasement with Germany which did not end well. That reminds me of our rino’s in Congress continually trashing the Constitution and our Republic. So, we entered WW II only after Japan hit Pearl Harbor in 1941. To that point we were pacifist but eventually grew a pair. Europe has consumed massive doses of estrogen over the years and I fear they will never recover from their illness. We apparently are suffering the same fate but more slowly. I can’t blame it all on the left that has gone so far left or even the “rino’s” instead, I blame everyone of us who does not take their rights seriously and do not vote.

I don’t believe a word that the libturd media has to say about anything. And I really don’t believe that the UN should be demanding of anyone. The libturds are so lame that they believe what feinstein has been saying about crimnals … “If they see you lay down your weapon, they will lay down theirs”. What kind of poppy cock yacking is that ???? How come diane hasn’t gotten rid of her personal carry weapon or her armed security?????? And that goes for the rest of the carsockies in d.c.
